Is it normal for contractions to be inconsistent?
Many women experience what is known as “false” labor pains or Braxton Hicks contractions. These irregular uterine contractions are perfectly normal and generally start during your third trimester of pregnancy. How often do the contractions occur? Why do my contractions keep stopping and starting?

Can you have irregular contractions for days?
In some cases it can last several days or weeks before active labour starts. Labour can be different for each woman. At the start of labour, most women report cramping, period type pains and lower backache which slowly progresses into bouts of irregular contractions lasting a few hours. This is normal.
Can real contractions start off irregular?
Early contractions will cause mild discomfort, be irregular, and may last only a few seconds at a time. As labor progresses, your contractions will become stronger and more uncomfortable. They will be longer in duration and will occur in a predictable pattern.

What are the signs of slow labour?
