How Does the FBI Hire Agents? The FBI accepts fewer than 20% of applicants, making jobs within the bureau highly competitive. Applicants typically begin their candidacy through one of the FBI’s various entry programs, all of which are tailored to specific FBI career tracks.
Can a soldier become an FBI agent?
The Feds need a lot of expert career fields, many of which can be learned in the military. Veterans with backgrounds in accounting, architecture, contracting, engineering, physical sciences, logistics and more can all find a place as a special agent in the FBI.
Can you go from military police to FBI?
The FBI has specific requirements for its special agents. If you meet these requirements at the time you leave the military, you could become a special agent, but you will need to go through the usual application process, as military service does not meet any of the necessary requirements.

Although security clearance background checks can be intensely thorough, the government can’t view your emails, Internet browsing history, hard drive data, and other virtual assets without a subpoena or warrant.
How smart do you have to be to be an FBI agent?
Have a bachelor’s degree or higher from a U.S.-accredited college or university. Have at least two years of full-time professional work experience; or one year if you have earned an advanced degree (master’s or higher). Possess a valid driver’s license and have six months of driving experience.
Is being an FBI agent hard?
Becoming an FBI agent is a tremendously difficult and competitive process. It takes years of time, planning, and hard work to mold yourself into the kind of candidate the FBI is looking to hire, and the hiring process itself can take a year or longer.
Does the CIA hire ex military?
There is no promise of permanent employment with the Agency upon completion of an assignment. However, we encourage participants with appropriate education, training, and experience separating from the military to apply for a full-time position at CIA.
