How do I fix shiver mode on ghd?
To get them out of Shiver Mode, switch off and unplug. Hold the plates in your hands for a few minutes to warm them up, then try again. During the colder months store your ghd’s wrapped in a towel.
Why do my ghds keep turning on and off?
If they randomly Ghd beeping from time to time when using them then it will be a power cable problem or with the power cable connector inside. The ghds will be turning off due to a intermittent power fault. They will be losing power for a short time and then when the power connection is made again there will be a beep.
Can GHD eclipse be repaired?
The GHD Eclipse is not repairable. A replacement mains cable is available from our online shop if yours is damaged (here). But make sure the cable is cut or damaged and the damage is stopping power getting to the irons!

Shiver Mode is a feature that GHD straighteners have built in in all models after the GHD 3.1b. (so GHD4. 0 to 4.2b, 5.0 ect). It is designed so that when the temperature is below about 11 degrees C the ghds will not power the heater plates up and the GHD,s will just make a constant beeping noise.
Should GHD plates touch?
If your straightener is of a high quality (like ghd are) the heat will be evenly distributed between the plates so you don’t have to squeeze them together to generate the heat your hair is after. You will be able to create shiny, pin straight hair easily without your ghd plates touching!

- Unplug the irons from the wall.
- Wait ten seconds.
- Hold the on/off button down while you plug them back in and keep it held for a further five seconds.
- Release the on/off button.
- Then turn on as usual.

What does it mean when a GHD flashes red?
It’s normal for the straightener to flash solid red as soon as you turn the switch on. It will then beep and start flashing as soon as it’s hot and this tells you it’s ready to be used.

It might be a product build up. Try giving them a clean before ditching. Sounds like they just need a good clean.
