What are the different types of curls?

Because every curl needs the regimen that treats it right.
How many curl types are there?
The curl type system focuses on 3 types – wavy, curly and coily, which are then broken down in 3 further sub types that are determined by the shape and diameter of your curl.
What is the rarest curl type?
Hair type 1A
That is because the straight follicles make it easier for natural oils to travel up and down your strands. Hair type 1A is super-straight. It doesn’t even hold a curl! 1A is the rarest hair type.
How can I know my type of curls?
Identifying your curl shape and pattern(s) is best determined while your hair is sopping wet. A simple breakdown: Type 1s are straight, Type 2s are wavy, Type 3s are curly, and Type 4s are coily. Easy, right? The sub-classifications of A to C are based on the width or diameter of your wave, curl, or coil.

What does 4c hair look like?
Type 4c. 4c hair is the queen of thick, bold afros. From afar, 4c hair looks like a thick fro, but if you look closely, you’ll notice very tight, small springs or coils on each strand. Coils are pretty different from curls.
Is my hair 3C or 4A?
3C hair strands have larger curls than 4A hair, which are a bit more tightly coiled. 3C hair has a reputation for being tightly densely packed, but otherwise soft to touch.

What do 2C curls look like?
2C. Type 2C waves are usually identified as small to medium size waves that form into a letter S shape as they grow. This shape borders between wavy and curly hair. Though for some this may already look like a typical curly hair, the 2C type does not form springs, a distinguishing feature between waves and curls.
Do I have type 2B or 2C hair?
2B hair consists of ‘S’ shaped waves in the lengths, but sits relatively straight at the roots. 2C hair has even more defined ‘S’ shaped curls that start from the root and continue down the lengths of the hair.
