Does Vail own Waterville Valley?
Due to anti-trust issues, Waterville and Cranmore Mountain Resort were sold to California-based Booth Creek Ski Holdings in the fall of 1996. Members of the Sununu family of New Hampshire and a group of area investors purchased the resort in October 2010 and it remains independent.
Why is Saddleback Mountain closed?
In 2015, Saddleback was scrambling to find the funding required to update their stolid 51-year-old Rangeley double chair that provided the main access from the base lodge to the summit. Ultimately failing to find the funding in time, the Maine ski resort shut its doors.
Who bought Saddleback Mountain?
Arctaris Impact Fund
The new general manager of Saddleback Mountain, Andy Shepard announced he hopes to reopen the mountain for the 2020–2021 season, sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas of 2020. The mountain has been closed since the 2014–2015 season. On January 31, 2020, Saddleback was officially sold to Arctaris Impact Fund.
