What is the difference between Schluter schiene and jolly?
SCHIENE is designed to provide edging for tile coverings on floors. Typical applications include edge protection where tile is bordered by carpet, at expansion joints, or as a decorative edging for stairs. JOLLY is a finishing and edge-protection profile for outside corners of tiled surfaces on walls.
Does Schluter schiene come in white?
To support these common design choices, Schluter®-Systems now provides black and white finish options for their most popular profiles.

What is a jolly in tile?
Jolly trim is a linear trim or edge for tile. It can be ceramic or metal. It is used to finish a raw tile edge just like a bullnose tile. It can also be used as a liner to accent your design. It’s generally very narrow and long with a minimal profile, measuring about ½ x 12 x ¼.
Does Schluter trim rust?
It won’t rust, but depending on how hard your water is, could retain some stains with time.
Is bullnose tile outdated?
No, bullnose tile isn’t necessarily outdated. In many home designs, it could be the best choice for achieving a finished tile look. However, it’s not the only option for tile projects these days, so you’ll want to think about whether bullnose really fits your style.
How do you finish tile without a bullnose?
Use a Caulked Edge (No Transition) Some tile types don’t offer a bullnose because a bullnose is not necessary. Glass tiles, tumbled stone varieties, and porcelain tiles have naturally finished edge. They do not need a separate edge piece to create a polished look. Simply install up to the edge and caulk.
Does Schluter strip rust?
There’s a reason you rarely see schluter in high end jobs. I personally wouldn’t do schluter in a wet area as it will rust- just a matter of time. Unless your bathroom has an overall “slick” contemporary feel, I’d stick with bullnose. Otherwise, it may look out of place.
How do you attach Schluter jolly?
Using a notched trowel, apply thin-set mortar to the area where profile is to be placed. If Schluter®-JOLLY is to be used at outside wall corners, finish tiling one wall first; then trowel thin-set mortar over the corner area of the second wall.
