Who is Unit-02 Evangelion?
Kaworu Nagisa
Unit-02 is piloted by Kaworu Nagisa in the battle against Armisael, during which it wields the Dual Saw (a weapon that debuted in Neon Genesis Evangelion 2). As in the anime, Asuka pilots Unit-02 against the Mass Production Evangelion.
Is unit-02 Asuka’s mom?
Asuka’s mom pulled part of herself out of Unit-02, but she left the part of her soul that cared for Asuka as a daughter. Presumably when she kills herself the rest of her soul is salvaged into Unit-02.

Is kaworu a Adam?
Kaworu is “born from Adam”, and describes Adam as being the “Mother of us all”. As Kaworu is the vessel for Adam’s soul, that paradoxically makes him his own mother as well as of all Angels.
What was wrong with Asuka’s mother?
As part of the first contact experiment Asuka’s mother was stripped as part of her soul. She didn’t die but there was a vital part of herself missing and thus was left broken. The partial removal of her soul left her in this insane fixation of thinking her daughter was a doll.
Why is Eva-01 so special?
