Are Scalpings the same as MOT Type 1?

How deep should MOT Type 1 be?
It is usual to lay MOT Type 1 at a compacted depth of 100mm for most patio projects and at a compacted depth of 150mm for most domestic driveways. Compaction should be achieved using a wacka plate. MOT Type 1 is used to stabilise the ground prior to laying paving and also allows for drainage.

What is pink MOT type1?
Type 1 MOT is sourced from all types of stone and may also contain other inert substances. Common types include crushed concrete, granite, granite dust, limestone, gritstone, and crushed hardcore.
Does MOT Type 1 drain?
However, a small disadvantage to using MOT Type 1 is that it is technically not a permeable sub-base material, meaning that little water will pass through and, if any does, it will filter through at a much slower rate. Granite or limestone provide an incredibly fast-draining sub-base.
Can you lay slabs on MOT Type 1?
MOT 1 is always prefered,as it will compact better due to the wider range aggergrate from 40mm stones down to dust, & is usually cheaper than ballast, sub base should be ideally 100mm & well compacted. And patio slabs should be laid on a full mortar bed, not spot bedded.
