- Getting In: From Wong Tai Sin MTR Station, take the green minibus 18M to Shatin Pass Estate. Hike until the end of Stain Pass Road (20 mins, 1.4 km), arrive at Section 5 and hike towards Section 4.
- Getting Out: At Sai Sha Road, look for bus no. 99, 99R or 299x (public holidays only) towards Sai Kung or Shatin.

There’s only one way to enter MacLehose Trail Stage 2. After 30-minute downhill walking, Long Ke is the first beach you will see. This is a deserted beach with almost no civilization in sight, only the sound of breaking waves.

It’s recommended you take this one east to west from marker M001 in Sai Kung to M200 in Tuen Mun, although we met others on the trail happy enough doing it in the opposite direction. We did this in one night and four days although 3 days is achievable for the super fit.

How do you start the MacLehose trail?
The MacLehose starts at Pak Tam Chung, near Sai Kung. You can take the MTR to Hang Hau, then a taxi to the start. Or take the 101 minibus to Sai Kung Town and take a taxi or bus from there. Once you reach Pak Tam Chung, pass the car barrier and keep walking straight along the concrete road.
